The China National Space Administration has announced that China's Chang'e 6 robotic probe has entered lunar orbit and started flying around the moon.
According to Amac News: The National Space Administration of China has said that this probe entered the moon's orbit this morning (Wednesday, May 8).
According to the China National Space Administration, spacecraft control at the Beijing Aerospace Center, the Chang'e 6 probe performed a braking maneuver as it approached the lunar surface and subsequently successfully entered lunar orbit at 10 p.m.
Prior to this critical maneuver, China's Chang'e 6 robotic probe had entered an 8.35-meter orbit for nearly 113 hours along the Earth-to-Moon transition path.
The Chang'e 6 spacecraft was launched aboard a Long Mars 5 heavy launch vehicle Friday afternoon at the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan Province.
The Chang'e 6 spacecraft was designed and built by the Beijing-based China Academy of Space Technology and consists of four components - an orbiter, a lander, an ascent and a re-entry capsule.
