The US Space Weather Forecast Center (NOAA) has announced that a "severe" geomagnetic storm has reached Earth.
According to Amac News: The Space Weather Prediction Center said that "G5" is the strongest level of geomagnetic storm on the G1 to G5 scale.
(NOAA) warned: "Widespread voltage control problems and protection system problems may occur. Some grid systems will experience complete collapse or blackouts, and transformers may also be damaged."
Radio transmissions and satellite navigation may also be disrupted, the center said.
The last G5 geomagnetic storm in October 2003 caused power outages in Sweden and damaged transformers in South Africa.
