Officials at Etihad Rail, Oman Rail and Mubadala Investment Company signed a shareholding agreement in order to start the construction of the UAE-Oman joint railway project.
According to Amac News: Theyab bin Mohammad, the head of Etihad Rail, emphasized at the agreement signing meeting that this project will open a new phase of planning for a better future for the two neighboring countries and their people.
Abdul Salam bin Mohammad Al Murshidi, the head of the Oman Investment Authority, said that the common rail network is a significant addition to the logistics sector and will play a role in stimulating various industrial sectors and economic activities.
Al Murshidi added that this project will increase business and investment opportunities and will be effective in attracting national and foreign investments.
According to the head of the Investment Authority of Oman, this project will make the two neighboring countries compete in the world trade level, which in turn will increase their economic prosperity.
Etihad Railway Company, Oman Rail and Mubadala Investment Company also unveiled their new corporate identity (Hafeet Rail).
Sohail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, emphasized the vital role of this network in facilitating local and regional trade.
Abdul Rahman Al Hatami, Executive Director of Asyad Group, emphasized the role of this project as a strategic logistics hub for importing and distributing goods to regional and global markets.
Hafeet Rail aims to help develop various sectors in both countries such as mining, iron and steel, agriculture and food, retail, e-commerce and the petrochemical sector.
The signing of the agreements reinforces the unhesitating support of both governments for this project and shows their commitment to its implementation and progress.
