Afghanistan's Arg has published a newsletter and said that during his visit to Turkmenistan, the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, Mohammad Hassan Akhund, met with the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, and officially opened the TAPI project.

According to Amac News: this meeting took place after Mohammad Hassan Akhund's trip to Turkmenistan in order to inaugurate the start of the TAPI project in the "Salim Cheshme Mari" area of ​​this country.
Based on the newsletter, the two sides discussed the expansion of bilateral relations, the importance of implementing large development projects between the two countries and regional projects.
It has been stated in the Arg newsletter that Hassan Akhund, at the opening of the TAPI project, called this event historic and congratulated the people of the two countries and the President of Turkmenistan.
In this ceremony, the President of Turkmenistan said that he is happy to witness the awarding of several large projects, including TAPI and TOP projects.
He called the relations between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan historical and added that mutual respect, equality, brotherhood and good neighborliness between the two countries is an "outstanding example". He said that in the future these relations will expand even more.
The TAPI regional project, which transfers Turkmenistan's gas to Pakistan and India through Afghanistan, is 1,821 km long and its annual transfer capacity is 33 billion cubic meters. In addition to using gas from this project, Afghanistan will receive 400 million dollars annually from Derek Transit.
This project also includes the development of Turghondi port, the construction of a 22-kilometer railway line from Herat to Sobar, and the construction of hangars, facilities and a subsidiary railway line in the mentioned route for loading, which will be implemented at a cost of about 40 million dollars.
In addition, optical fiber transmission is another advantage of this project, which will connect Afghanistan to Europe through Turkmenistan, and vice versa, Turkmenistan to Pakistan and other neighboring countries through Afghanistan.
