On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has announced the start of a campaign to combat plastic pollution.

UNAMA has added that the campaign to reduce the use of plastic to zero has started from its office in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and will expand to other offices of this organization.
This year, the United Nations has launched a campaign on World Environment Day and emphasized that pollution caused by the use of plastic can be prevented.
Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in his message on this occasion, said that every day the equivalent of more than two thousand garbage trucks full of plastic is dumped into the oceans, rivers and lakes.
He added: As individuals, we should give up our addiction to using plastic, work to reduce the use of plastic to zero, and try to create a circular economy.
At the same time, the National Department of Environmental Protection has also celebrated World Environment Day with the slogan of fighting plastic pollution.
