UAE media reported that Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has inaugurated an orphanage built by the UAE in the country’s Oromia region.
UAE builds AED 20 million orphanage in Ethiopia
According to Amac News: Citing the UAE state media outlet WAM, the project was implemented on the orders of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and under the supervision of Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Al Dhafra and President of the Emirates Red Crescent.
The total cost of the project is said to be 20 million dirhams, which includes the construction of housing, two schools, a kindergarten, a library, an educational center, and recreational and play areas.
The project was inaugurated by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during a ceremony attended by the President of the Emirates Red Crescent and a number of Emirati and Ethiopian officials.
The President of the Emirates Red Crescent said that the two countries are working together to implement more humanitarian and development projects that will benefit the people.
The plan is said to be part of the UAE's efforts to improve basic services on the African continent, particularly in the areas of health, education and social services.
