The Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences has said that the country will host the 26th meeting of the Committee on Environmental Protection (CEP 26) in Antarctica and the 46th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM 46).

According to Amac News: The Ministry has issued a statement saying that the 10-day marathon meetings will be held from May 20 in Kochi "to facilitate constructive global dialogues on environmental monitoring, scientific cooperation and cooperation in the Antarctic".
The ministry said that 350 representatives and experts from 60 countries will participate in these two meetings that will be held this month.
The ministry further added that these meetings are very important for the continuous efforts of the international community to protect the fragile Antarctic ecosystem and promote scientific research in the region.
India has established three Earth Research Stations at Dakshin Gangotri, Maitari and Bharati in Antarctica.
