The World Food Program said that if the population of Afghanistan is 100 people, 47 of them need humanitarian aid to survive.
According to Amac News: this institution has said that the population of Afghanistan is about 40 million people and one third of its population is facing hunger.
The World Food Program has announced that it urgently needs 657 million dollars to continue its activities in Afghanistan for the next six months.
This organization says that Afghanistan's food security crisis is still ongoing and almost 40% of Afghanistan's population, i.e. 15.8 million people, will face acute food insecurity in the first quarter of 2024.
According to this organization, from 2021 until now, women and girls have suffered the most in Afghanistan.
The World Food Program warned that in 2024, the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has become more complicated and vital needs, including food, have become the main need of the people of this country.
This UN-affiliated organization added that the government of Pakistan deported nearly 500,000 migrants from September 2023 and 800,000 migrants were deported from Iran.
According to the statistics of the World Food Program, the expulsion of these migrants has affected the lives of about 1.3 million Afghans, which has increased the need for humanitarian aid.
The agency says that projections for 2024 show that the number of returnees is likely to continue, with an estimated 1.46 million Afghans returning to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran this year.
