Officials of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh River Festival have announced that the second Ho Chi Minh River Festival will be held at Nha Rong-Khanh Hoi Pier, Saigon Cruise Port and other tourist places.
According to Amac News: The second Ho Chi Minh River Festival 2024, which will be held from May 31 to June 9, will offer a wide range of culture, food and entertainment activities in Vietnam.
The first River Festival was held in 2023, with more than 6,000 spectators participating in five spectacular performances at the event, recreating the cultural and economic activities and lifestyle of the river dwellers of Saigon, Chu Lun, Jia Dinh in Ho Chi Minh City about three centuries ago.
It was the first time that an art show was performed on a stage built on the Saigon River with a diverse mix of performance technologies and coordination of entertainment and historical elements.
The general director of the festival has said that nearly 1000 professional and amateur performers will participate in this event this year. The outdoor screening space at Nha Rong-Khanh Hoi-Saigon Port Pier will be transformed into a large film studio.
The festival tells modern historical stories about the special boats that used to ply in and out of the Saigon River and were associated with important landmarks in the country.
Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, director of the municipal tourism department, said that the city's tourism department expects this year's festival to continue to attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists and contribute to the growth of the sector.
The central city is implementing a nearly US$15.7 million project to illuminate the Han River with horizontal bridges. In 2024, the two banks of the Han River will host 55 periodic and annual cultural events and festivals organized by agencies, units and localities.
