Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) announced that registration is open for its Q2 2024 auction for Clean Energy Certificates (CECs) in Abu Dhabi.

According to Amac News: This auction is scheduled to close on June 14, 2024. The auction allows Abu Dhabi businesses and organizations to decarbonize their energy consumption, reduce their Scope 2 emissions, and track and verify progress toward environmental goals.

EWEC recorded a record number of participants in the 2023 auctions.
Each CEC, issued in units of 1 MWh, indicates that the electricity consumed by the purchasing organization originates from a renewable or clean energy source.
EWEC is one of the key parties enabling the implementation of the CECs scheme, acting as the sole registrar and auction operator.
The CEC scheme complies with the recognized international standard developed by the International Renewable Energy Certification Standard Foundation (I-REC Standard).
Major entities, including Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Aldar, Mediclinic Middle East, and Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA), have purchased CECs and signed a strategic clean energy partnership with EWEC to certify their electricity consumption from energy It is produced cleanly.
