The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that from January to June 2024, it has provided health and nutrition services to more than 18 million people in Afghanistan.

According to Amac News: In the announcement, this fund said that about 50% of the people who received these services were children under five years old.
UNICEF wrote in the announcement that these services are provided through 2,390 permanent health centers throughout Afghanistan.
The Children's Protection Fund has also said that during this period it has paid the salaries of 27,740 health workers to continue providing services for Afghan mothers and children.
This organization added in its announcement that it has supported 3,300 health centers that treat malnourished children under the age of five.
According to UNICEF, in the first half of this year, 6 million 316 thousand 219 children under the age of five were examined for malnutrition, of which 272 thousand 791 were diagnosed with acute malnutrition and hospitalized.
This fund has said that in the first half of 2024, the number of children treated and examined for malnutrition has decreased by 18% compared to the first half of the previous year, and the reason for this is the regulation and suspension of mobile health and nutrition teams, reduction of the nutrition program for Shahri is due to financial restrictions and the suspension of nutrition services in family health homes.
This organization has also said that through 17,974 local education classes, it has provided educational services to 564,000 children, 64% of whom are girls, and provided books and educational materials to 3,462,195 public school students.
UNICEF has also provided services in the field of child protection, sexual violence in emergency situations and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, water, land maintenance and cleanliness, improving social behavior and responding to vulnerable people and gender, development and youth participation in Afghanistan.
Earlier, UNICEF announced that heavy rains and floods have endangered the lives of more than six million children in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan.
 The organization has requested $9.3 million to support emergency preparedness for children across the region.
