Officials at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Interim Government of Afghanistan report that trade with Turkey has reached a total value of $94 million in exports and imports over the first ten months of the current calendar year.
Trade Afghanistan and Turkey increases
According to Amac News: Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the ministry, stated that from January to October, the value of trade with Turkey stood at $94 million, with $21 million in exports and $73 million in imports.
Jawad noted that trade with Turkey has increased compared to previous years, with Afghanistan's primary exports to Turkey including sesame seeds, raisins, almond kernels, green cumin, and cowhide. The imported items consist of medicinal plants, carpets, and heaters.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment also announced that the "Halal Istanbul Exhibition" will take place in Turkey in about a week, where a delegation from Afghanistan and local traders will participate.
Ministry officials indicated that trade conferences, business networking sessions, and other economic programs will be organized alongside the exhibition.
