The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the acting government of Afghanistan has announced that an Uzbek economic delegation said in a meeting with the acting minister that Uzbekistan is ready to import coal from Afghanistan to create a balance in trade between the two countries.
Uzbekistan to import coal from Afghanistan
According to Amac News: The Afghan Ministry of Industry said in a press release yesterday (Sunday, February 3) that during this visit, trade contracts worth four and a half million dollars were signed between private companies of the two countries.
During the meeting, Nooruddin Azizi, acting minister of the ministry, called for holding joint trade exhibitions and suggested that a maximum of five exhibitions of domestic products and productions of the two countries be held annually at the Termez International Trade Center.
According to the press release, the two sides also discussed various issues, including finalizing the preferential trade agreement, establishing and promoting the activities of a cement production plant in Samangan province, and establishing a trade house in both countries.
Uzbek Prime Minister Abdullah Arifov visited Kabul in August 2024 and signed trade and investment agreements worth two and a half billion dollars with Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that Uzbekistan has been a close economic partner of Afghanistan, having signed several trade agreements with Afghanistan over the past three years.
